Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance
In connection with the receipt of notifications from the Department for Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on July 29, a delegation of representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the Rostov Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the Federal State State Institution "TsOKZ" and the FKP "Republican Fumigation Squad" flew to Hanoi. Notifications were introduced in connection with the detection of quarantine pests in batches of Russian grain - the barn weevil and the field bodyak.
On July 31, a working meeting was held with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Russian side handed over the decisions of the Commission of the Customs Union No. 157, No. 158 and the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of grain".
The Vietnamese side stressed its deep interest in the supply of Russian grain. During the meeting, issues of phytosanitary condition of grain supplied to the Republic of Vietnam were discussed. Agreements were reached on measures to establish and eliminate the causes of the detection of quarantine pests in grain batches. In addition, both sides expressed their readiness to expand trade and economic cooperation.
As part of the working meeting, the delegation visited the Plant Quarantine Diagnostic Center. Representatives of the delegation were shown the work of the center, in particular, the work of the herbological and entomological departments, the procedure for obtaining samples and conducting examinations, and new methods for identifying quarantine objects, including field bodyak, were transferred.
As a result of the meeting, the parties came to a decision to carry out corrective measures to prevent the situation from arising in the future. As a positive example, the Vietnamese side highly appreciated the promptness of the Rosselkhoznadzor's response to the facts of identifying the quarantine pest of the barn weevil in grain batches in 2017. It was noted that after disinfection by active recycling with a maximum dose of pesticide, the facts of identifying this quarantine object were not recorded, which was recorded in the protocol that was drawn up and signed as a result of the visit.
