Article on forest protection

In recent years, it has become more and more obvious that in addition to fire, the forest has many more enemies that can cause it huge, and possibly irreparable damage. One of these traditional enemies is the Siberian cocooned or, as it is more often, but incorrectly called, the Siberian silkworm.

There are cases when its foci covered millions of hectares of the Siberian taiga. The last such case occurred in the mid-90s of the XX century, when to eliminate its foci in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Russian state had to borrow money from the World Bank.

Now there are no large foci of this pest yet. But this is temporary, in the coming years its foci can burn with great force. And then the small ability of the modern system to carry out major measures to protect the forest will become apparent.
