Treatment of discernible and hidden forms of infestation
Explicit form of infestation appears if there are harmful insects in the intergranular space of bulk products samples (grain or cereal).
The procedure of pests detection is done by sifting a grain sample through a sift, though a more precise way of identifying an explicit form of infestation is usage of a thermal detector, a cone-shaped vessel with a sift-bottom.
Grain is heated with an electric lamp during sifting in order to force mits to escape intergranular space, after which they fall into water and then are counted.
There is also a hidden form of bulk products infestation, when pests hide inside grain kernels. It is difficult to identify a degree of grain infestation in such case, because kernels might not have clear signs of infestation.
Grain disinsection is done according to standard methods, allowing to get rid of any degree of infestation, providing a long-term storage life of the product.
