Export certification system. International standard for phytosanitary measures

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) demands contracting parties to take measures for issuing phytosanitary certificates, confirming compliance with phytosanitary regulations of other contracting parties. This standard describes the system of export certification, which allows issuing valid and reliable phytosanitary certificates. Export freights, certified in compliance with this system, must meet current requirements of an importing country.

The main steps of phytosanitary certification process include:

• Getting relevant phytosanitary requirements of an importing country (including, if necessary, permissions for import);
• Checking freight on its compliance with these requirements at the moment of certification;
• Issuing phytosanitary certificate.
